1. Sector Advocacy
Under sector advocacy we have achieved the following:- Reviewing and development of water sector development plan phase 1-3.
- Contributing to climate resilience and water resources management strategy
- Review of the water policy(2007) and water management Act(2012).
- Development of water supply and sanitation Act(2019) and the guidelines for the formation of water user associations.
- Review of the water sector development programme phase I & II and formation of the water sector development programme phase II and III.
- Formation of National multi-sectoral forum for water resources management (NMSF- WRM).
2. Promoting Water Sterwadship
- The development of the Kikuletwa water stewardship partnership contributed to Increasing Water Use Efficiency, Improved Catchment Management, and Strengthened Catchment Governance Certification of Olam Industry as the first Company in Tanzania complying with water stewardship standards.
- Conducted a social mobilization campaign under the tagline ‘Siri ya ushindi ni kubalansi’. The mobilization was conducted among Tooku workers and neighborhood community in Ubungo municipality. The message focused on reminding people to balance life and hygiene as a secret to victory in life i.e., practicing hygiene behaviour while at work. The mobilization was led by an influential artist Elias Barnaba alias known as Barnaba Classic.
3. Water security, is National security Agenda
We championed the agenda of “Water security, is National security“ to Profile the role of water for political, social and economic attention and promote sector dialogue on water security.
