BRACE is a 2-year (2023-2025) project being funded by the Commonwealth Foundation; Actual project implementation will start in October 2023. The project aims to improve practices by the water-intensive sectors (Agriculture, Water supply/Resource Industry, Livestock and Fisheries, and Industry) in implementing climate-resilient and gender-responsive plans and budgets. It intends to achieve two major outcomes:
The project will generate evidence on gaps in mainstreaming climate financing and climate change actions in water-intensive sectors, local government authorities, and village-level plans and budgets. It will further assess barriers to gender-responsive and climate-resilience actions in water resource management within these sectors and package the information for advocacy work with government and sector stakeholders.
Communities in case study sites (smallholder farmers, pastoralists, and fisherfolks) will be empowered in raising their concerns and advocating for financing climate-resilience and gender-responsive actions in WRM through diverse media platforms.
