Tondelo is a seasoned professional specializing in environment and climate change with over 14 years of extensive national and international experience. His expertise spans a wide array of areas including climate resilience and adaptation programs, net-zero initiatives, climate adaptation research, water resources management and security, nature-based solutions, ecosystem-based adaptation, renewable energy, climate information services, loss and damage assessment, and livelihoods resilience.

Tondelo coordinated a comprehensive climate adaptation and resilience research program involving a coalition of 20 organizations in Tanzania. This coalition made significant contributions to key national initiatives such as the formulation of the National Climate Change Response Strategy (NCCRS 2021-2026), the revised Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 2021), updated National Environmental Policy (2021), and the National Environmental Master Plan for Strategic Interventions (2022-2032). Tondelo led field teams and collaborated with local government authorities on climate and water security programs.

He holds an MSc in Applied Climate Science and Society from Mekelle University, Ethiopia, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning and Management from the Institute of Rural Development Planning, Dodoma, Tanzania
